Hemp Info
Hemp seed oil is pressed from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant, not to be confused with its psychoactive cousin. In fact, industrial hemp and marijuana are different species of the Cannabis sativa plant.
Most countries distinguish industrial hemp from marijuana on the basis of THC (main intoxicant in marijuana) content and permit the growing of non-psychoactive low THC hemp for fiber and seed. But the US Drug Enforcement lumps low non-psychoactive THC with marijuana, making the US the only major industrialized nation prohibiting the growing and processing of hemp. So we use certified organic hemp seed oil from Canada as our base ingredient in our product line.
Hemp is a sustainable and environmental super plant. Little to no pesticides or herbicides are used for growing hemp. It grows quickly, and does little damage to the ground compared to other popular crops.
Hemp is nutritious for our bodies and we feel it’s the healthiest oil to be absorbed into your skin. It is rich in Omega 6, Omega 3 and GLA essential fatty acids, making it an excellent omega source for the vegan diet. The unsaturated fatty acid composition makes it an excellent emollient and ideal for body care products because it enters directly into the layers of dry skin cells to replenish missing oils.
If you haven’t tried a hemp body care product before, please do, you will not be disappointed. If you have any questions or concerns regarding hemp, please feel free to contact us.
